nj: I’m glad they didn’t tell the roses they were leaving! - 06/07/12 09:51 AM

It’s been a struggle to get back into this blogging thing.  I was lured back. But I am sometimes at a loss about what to write.
So today, like every other day, I walked around my neighborhood.  But I brought my CAMERA, like I used to.
How pictures, if you take time to think about them, inspire!
The photo below is from an abandoned home in my neighborhood.

I’m glad they didn’t tell the roses they were leaving!

Little Egg Harbor NJ - Has the housing Market Hit Bottom?
The housing market in Little Egg Harbor slowed in 2011, and prices decreased.  But the question most asked, "Have we hit bottom?" First let's look at the figures to date for the Little Egg Harbor Housing Market in 2011.
My read; We're ready for a rebound in real estatesales and prices in Little Egg Harbor, NJ.  But take note; there will not be the extraordinary yearly/monthly increases in value that we've seen in passed year.  I think there's a leveling going on and we'll see a leveling in property values … (2 comments)

nj: Little Egg Harbor's Winding Run Development - An Interesting History - 11/13/11 01:06 AM
Little Egg Harbor’s Winding Run Development

The history of the Winding Run development in Little Egg Harbor at the Jersey Shore is an interesting one.
Kara Homes began construction at the height of the housing market.  At times it seemed like the price point for these homes was increasing monthly.  The sale price for these new homes topped out at almost a half million dollars.
The bottom fell out for Kara Homes, a New Jersey based development company in 2006, and they declared bankruptcy.  That was the beginning of the housing market decline in southern Ocean County.
The uncompleted … (4 comments)

nj: We're New Jersey & Proud of It! - 06/22/10 02:55 AM
We're mad as hell, and can't take it anymore! A humorous take on Garden State life! Many New Jersey residents have put up with Jersey Jokes (what exit, etc) their whole lives and have learned to ignore the boorish comments.  But some residents and business people have had enough and created a website to express Garden State Pride!  The site — JerseyDoesntStink.com — is designed to rally those who are tired of the putdowns about pollution, wisecracks about wise guys, and cheap (but often true) shots about corruption. With companion Facebook and Twitter pages, state residents can sound off online in defense … (9 comments)

nj: Long Beach Island, NJ...A Troubled Bridge Over Water - 06/19/09 12:47 AM
How do you spell bad timing?  Ask the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT).  It's planning to start work on the Route 72 Causeway in July!  That's the only access from the mainland to Long Beach Island, unless you come by boat.
DOT officials had said in March construction would not take place during the summer months due to the tourism season. But the project was expedited to start July 20 (though the newly erected signs say the work will begin on July 17th).  That's because the project was funding received through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and must be spent quickly … (6 comments)

On May 7th, we will boldy go where no man has gone before!  The new Star Trek movie (Star Trek XI) will be released, and this is what we'll see.
Kirk as an angry, wayward and headstrong young man looking for trouble.  Since Kirk has always thought outside the box, he wreaks havoc on Starfleet’s rules and regs.  Mr. Spock begins his career as a tortured soul.  His mixed heritage has him battling his emotions, as he decides which path to follow; a life in the Vulcan world (which views him as an outsider and 'half human') or Starfleet Academy, worlds away … (8 comments)
