Friends, food, fun, and fireworks! Every July 3rd, the Town of Addison, a Dallas Texas suburb, celebrates Independence Day by hosting Kaboom Town. It's rated in the top 10 fireworks displays in the country by the American Pyrotechnics Association. And two years ago, it was ranked as the #2 best in the nation.

Have you heard about "Operation New Year" in the news? Probably not, unless you live in Dallas County.
The Public Health Preparedness Division of the Dallas County Health & Human Services department, along with the Medical Reserve Corps, held 2016's first medical countermeasure dispensing exerise at Loos Fieldhouse in Addison, Texas this morning. This was a mock disaster exercise to test local response to a bioterrorism threat.
Addison citizens Linda Berthold, Mary Jo Cater and I, plus dozens of others, volunteered at the community-wide role-playing exercise. The MetroCrest cities of Addison, Coppell, Carrollton and Farmers Branch were involved, and volunteer "staff members" from Dallas County and … (2 comments)

Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have been found in Addison, Texas.
The Town of Addison will be spraying the Les Lacs and the Midway Meadows areas on Wednesday and Thursday mornings (July 22nd & 23rd, 2015) between 5:00 am and 6:30 am.
Although the pesticide used by the town is reported to be safe, all residents are encouraged to avoid contact with the chemicals.

You've heard of the "dog days of summer" but now the Town of Addison is putting a twist on the phrase.
The outdoor pool at the Addison Athletic Club closed (for humans) on Labor Day. However, the annual doggy splash day will be held on Saturday morning, September 8th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. If you are an Addison resident with a membership card to the AAC (one-time $10 fee for as long as you live in town), come out and support the dogs!
