new york: Only In New York - this is true...
- 01/09/08 03:32 AM
While I am sure this could happen anywhere it didn't it happened in Manhattan. They would have gotten away with it except for the fact that their friend looked dead. So, they dressed him, put him into a chair with wheels and decided to roll him in the chair to the bank to cash the check. Yes, they rolled him through the streets of New York, dead, dressed and in the chair hoping he would look alive and they could get the

new york: Bash and Build
- 12/14/07 10:09 PM
The New York Metropoitan Area has become #1 in the nation in tearing down and building properties overtaking Chicago which had been #1. While overall new construction has softened there are three communities in the Metropolitan New York area where high end "bash and build" continues without any concern for the sub-prime or other market conditions. Greenwhich, Ct, Bedford, NY and Old Westbury out on Long Island all continue with older houses being taken down and large McMansions being built. I live in the Estate Section of a Community in Central Westchester County where the zoning is 1 acre and being a

new york: Is There a Right Way to Do Things?
- 09/03/07 01:45 AM
I recently rented a house to a very nice young couple. As I went through the process with the listing agent one thing after another happened that in my expereince raised all sorts of red flags...As we went through the negotiation of the price, the lease, etc. I was rather surprised by the suggestions that this agent came up with. This agent is a complete gentleman who has been in the business for under five years successfully. So I began to wonder if there is a right way to do things, or were my reactions to his suggestions just my way

new york: Co-op Sales and Step by Step Guidence
- 07/05/07 10:29 PM
I now have an accepted offer on the sale of a co-op. The buyer and I went out looking for about three days and finally she found an apartment that is just what she is looking for. In her budget and location she wanted. It is a really nice apartment and perfect for her. When we started to look I began to explain the process to her. There really is a lot to know when you buy a co-op and I didn't want her to be uninformed or have any surprises. So I began to email her and guide her as

- 04/12/07 10:58 AM
I just got a call from a broker in New Jersey. They have a buyer who just did an Engineering on the house down there and are moving from Queens in New York. The broker was trying to coordinate the closing date on the house in New Jersey and property they are selling in New York. Problem was that the buyer seemed a tad confused about he process. The broker called me to find out how we do things in New York knowing that it is different than in New Jersey. A blog topic! So here is the sequence of events for
