habitat for humanity: Who Is Krista Bolf? - 06/08/09 03:01 PM
Although Krista Bolf, principal broker at Coldwell Banker ProWest in Ashland Oregon has an impressive list of credentials that go with her, it is the person behind the résumé that impresses me the most. Having seen Krista Bolf be presented with the Rogue Valley Association of Realtors 2009 Realtor of the Year award, I realized that as much as I believe she is the perfect recipient of this prestigious award, there is so much more to her.
Having had the pleasure of working on several transactions with Krista since we first met while working together on a Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity … (0 comments)

There is an International Affordable Housing Program being supported by The Rotary Club of Ashland to promote affordable housing internationally. This is the Guanajuato Housing Project, a project that like Habitat for Humanity, requires an investment by the home's recipient.
The homeowner must own their own land and build their own home, a home which will cost $2,600 US to build.
The Rotary Club of Ashland raises $650 per home, the City of Guanajuato also contributes $650 per home, then the State of Guanajuato matched that $1,300 each per home. The Mayor of the City of Guanajuato and the president of the Club Rotario … (2 comments)

habitat for humanity: Table Rock Fellowship of Medford Oregon Steps Up to Help Habitat for Humanity Rogue Valley Build Their Next Home - 03/10/08 06:44 AM
Table Rock Fellowship is a nondenominational Christian fellowship church that has grown to become one of the Rogue Valley's mega churches. In spite of roughly 3,000 weekly attendees at this church, it has remained a down-to-earth, friendly church offering many programs and link groups to its members looking to find the right church home. The pastoral team, staff and volunteers who pull together the many different services and programs this church offers are an outstanding resource and one of the reasons for this church's phenomenal growth. This is a "come as you are" place, with a fantastic worship band and children's program. … (12 comments)

habitat for humanity: Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity Dedicates 2 Homes January 12, 2008 - 01/11/08 02:48 PM
In this day and age when affordable housing is such a challenge to come by, it is wonderful that Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity will dedicate two homes in Medford, Oregon on Saturday at 2PM.
What a rewarding day this will be!  Not only for the 14 lives about to change with the fulfillment of the American Dream of Homeownership for these two families. There are hundreds of others who were involved in this process, from the hammer swinging or brush wielding volunteers, to the skilled laborers who donated their gifts of framing/ concrete/ asphault/ tree removal/ roofing/ HVAC and more, to … (10 comments)

habitat for humanity: New Affordable Housing in Central Point - 11/09/07 12:11 AM
The City of Central Point has a history of showing support for affordable housing. They supported Habitat for Humanity/Rogue Valley when they built 6 homes, the last two being dedicated in December 2005. Also in 2005, the City of Central Point supported the construction of 62 affordable one-bedroom senior apartments, the Central Point Retirement Community , a part of Pacific Retirement Services.

Keep an eye on Habitat for Humanity/Rogue Valley. At their October 2007 Board Meeting, they voted to purchase two lots in Central Point near Scenic Middle School and Crater High School. With some substantial fundraising success, hopefully they'll … (2 comments)

habitat for humanity: New Affordable Housing in Ashland - 11/08/07 12:53 PM
There ARE opportunities for affordable homeownership in Ashland!

The City of Ashland typically has higher prices for homes than other areas of Jackson County, and it is because of this, they are the one City who makes the greatest effort toward providing opportunities for affordable housing in Jackson County.

The City of Ashland is providing support for a Rogue Valley Community Development Corporation (RVCDC) project on Siskiyou Boulevard in Ashland. It is their Mutual Self-Help Program, and if you have the 32 hours per week available for the sweat-equity requirements, and can meet the low income/credit guidelines, what a wonderful opportunity to become a homeowner … (0 comments)

habitat for humanity: Aaaarrrgh! My Income Is Just Too Low to Qualify to Buy A Home! - 10/26/07 05:45 PM
So, you hear all the stories from other people about how they bought their home, but you have given up hope of ever owning your own. Your income affords you a home that is barely livable, and you struggle to pay just for that every month. And, let's not even TALK about your heating bills you pay for this old, leaky place you rent! You may have had some credit issues in the past, and don't want to complain about the condition of your home because what if no one else will rent to you? Maybe the condition of the home … (0 comments)

habitat for humanity: Proud To Be A Part of Habitat For Humanity/Rogue Valley's Success - 10/08/07 06:04 PM
My family and I relocated from Santa Clarita, CA to the Rogue Valley in beautiful Southern Oregon in 2004. We heard so much about the Quality of life the Rogue Valley had to offer, but our decision to move here had already been made as we drove down the Siskiyou Pass in to Ashland in April, awed by the green hillsides and pear blossoms in bloom. It has been a major lifestyle change for us. We had to learn that people REALLY yield to the traffic merging from freeway on-ramps; there is no such thing as a "California stop" here - people will waive you through the … (0 comments)
