wilmington: Wilmington, North Carolina.....A Community with Many Faces - 07/15/07 12:46 PM
How does one like CNN/Money, Relocate-America, MSNBC, retirement articles, and a host of Hollywood types actually find a city like Wilmington North Carolina and put it on the HOT list of places to live?
It is called a BUZZ, and people talk, and the talk is about the wonderful lifestyle, climate, attractions, opportunities for the movie industry and the affordability of living in a seaside resort area. We found Wilmington quite by accident back in the eighties (living in upstate New York), when our vacation hotel in Myrtle Beach suffered some storm damage, and would not be able to accommodate us. … (6 comments)

wilmington: Update on Parade of Homes - 05/11/07 05:06 AM
Last weeks Parade of Homes was a huge success by any standards!!  Thousands of folks enjoyed the nice weather and viewed over 100 homes on the parade.  The Star News reporter Mike Voorheis wrote an article about his visit to our premier gated community of Landfall and his impressions of the 4.5 million dollar home. His article appears here.....I must say in all honesty, it was written in typical Mike Voorheis fashion, satirical in nature, and one of Landfalls residents took some offense to its content.  I include it in my posting because I know it was not intended to discredit … (3 comments)

wilmington: Wilmington on the Rise - 02/16/07 05:19 AM

and also the taxes! New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick counties have recently completed new tax valuations for property owners in the cities and towns of Wilmington, Leland, Hampstead, and the smaller communities they serve. Recent appraisals will no doubt bring about some negative comments from some property owners. Some of the beach towns...Wrightsville Beach, Kure Beach and Carolina Beach have seen triple digit increases, surely that will not be good news for some. The assessed value of property in New Hanover County has risen by roughly 81 percent.A surge in coastal land prices in recent years coupled with low valuations the … (2 comments)
