Lots of people like to rag on how bad Dallas ISD schols are. However there are some great gems. The best high school in Texas — and the country — is the School for the Talented and Gifted. The Dallas ISD magnet school continues its streak as the No. 1-ranked public school for the fifth straight year. This is not a charter school....it is a public high school in the Dallas ISD system. I know it is important to many to be in an area with great schools, but I have never liked the way many homebuyers and perhaps others are so focused on a one word description of the school ...like Exemplary or Great Schools ranks it a 10. Most people have little or no idea what the rankings are based on and why one school might be recognized and another exemplary. It may be issues that are of no importance to your child.
