oregon: Bull Mountain: A little history from the top - 09/15/11 02:44 AM

Now, I grew up on Bull Mountain in Tigard, Oregon and I had heard stories of farmers, ranchers and cattle which all made sense since I did a lot of horse riding up there when I was younger. (This was long before the housing boom) I promise in the late 70s and 80s there were hundreds of acres of farm land still on Bull Mountain and I rode ever inch of them!
So, yesterday, when I took my kids to my old stomping ground we found something new at a Elizabeth Price Park within all these housing developments. What we … (18 comments)

oregon: Do you remember your first days in real estate, the day you got your toes wet? - 09/13/11 04:58 AM
Yesterday, I got to experience my nephew on his 4th birthday getting to see and touch the ocean for the first time and though I couldn’t remember my first time at the ocean, I certainly could remember the first house I sold.
Now, like his first statement when he saw the beach “That is a lot of sand, can I play in it?” there was a lot of excitement. That is how I felt when I got my license, boy, there are a lot of houses for sale, can I play?

And just like my nephew taking those slow last … (20 comments)

oregon: Mom, why is he looking at us like he wants to eat us? - 09/06/11 06:37 PM

Mom, why is he looking at us like he wants to eat us? I’m not sure son, but stay behind me and maybe he won’t notice you. The entire time I was taking these pictures, that is how that mother cow was looking at me and that calf was really worried. I do have to admit, I did have BBQ sauce on my brain while taking the pictures. MMMM Hamburger!

oregon: Washington County Real Estate: I never thought about Oregon and the Civil War, but yesterday I got a history lesson - 09/06/11 05:57 AM
Washington County Real Estate: I never thought about Oregon and the Civil War, but yesterday I got a history lesson. You see when I think of Oregon and the civil war the only thing that ever came to my mind would be football, but not anymore!
Yesterday while out Geocaching with my family we came across a really cool Geocacher that likes to hide caches near cemeteries and then give you a little history lesson about them. Now, these weren’t just normal cemeteries, these were pioneer cemeteries and many have been hidden to the public for years.
Well, yesterday upon finding … (11 comments)

oregon: Where there is smoke there is fire! - 09/02/11 12:06 PM
Unfortunately in the last couple weeks we have had some very unusual weather in the form of lightning strikes. The problem is that those strikes have actually hit the ground and have been causing lots of wild fires and closing many highways and burned a lot of homes.

Now, unfortunately we are going to lose a lot of forests and farm land. So, please for those of you driving through are wonderful state, please don’t add to the problem and through burning cigarettes out the window of your car.
Though we have had really cooler than normal weather, the … (7 comments)

oregon: Bowling with 3 year olds. In Beaverton, they don't have to be excluded! - 08/31/11 03:25 AM
One thing most people think is bowling is for big kid’s game, but, not at Sunset Lanes in Beaverton, Oregon. They have a ramp that even the littlest of kids can put a ball on that is in some cases weigh half as much as the bowler themselves. But, with one simple light push, the ball is on its way.

At that point, they are just like any other bowler, who is praying they get a strike and when they do, they do the happy dance just like the rest of us! So, if you are looking for a place … (11 comments)

oregon: Summerfield Park: North Clackamas Parks and Recreation - 08/22/11 06:10 PM
Summerfield Park: North Clackamas Parks and Recreation is a small little neighborhood park, but if you need a break, then this is the park for you. One thing I really liked about this park was despite its small size it had a lot for little kids and even had a bathroom.

If you live in the area of Sunnyside Road, then I would suggest checking out this park, it would be well worth it and small kids will love it. Summerfield Park in Happy Valley, run by the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation Department.

oregon: The Bridge of the Gods - 08/20/11 05:37 PM
Today’s bridge of the Gods is a man made bridge crossing the mighty Columbia River between Oregon and Washington States. But, today’s bridge was built to replace nature’s legend. You see many years ago, there was a huge landslide blocking the mighty Columbia River and the natives called this the Bridge of the Gods.
Well over the years, the mighty Columbia River slowly overtook Gods dam and eventually washed it away. Now, years later we man has replaced Gods natural crossing with a this toll bridge that they apply named “The Bridge of the Gods” after the original bridge that was … (14 comments)

oregon: A view worth sitting down and enjoying! McLean House and Park in West Linn, Oregon - 08/11/11 05:00 AM
A view worth sitting down and enjoying! McLean House and Park in West Linn, Oregon is certainly that! While my family was out Geocaching the other day we came across this great home and park in West Linn and this amazing view.
We enjoyed the view so much that my family decided to take a sit and enjoy the view for awhile. This park is located just off Interstate 205 and actually you have to pass under the interstate on trails to get to the water, but the very little hike was well worth it!
If you are looking to enjoy … (8 comments)

oregon: Butter anyone? - 08/10/11 06:58 PM
Now, I know they say too much butter isn’t good for you. But come on with a butter churn like this, there really is no other choice but to make to much butter or have a giant pancake feed. This butter turn was from the late 1800s and we found it while out Geocaching on Saturday.
Now, back then I can’t really think why anyone would ever need a butter churn this big. Now, today I could see someone using this to create enough butter to create a six foot butter sculpture of Elvis for the state fair.
But, my family … (11 comments)

oregon: My Oregon Barn Series: I will survive! - 08/08/11 07:07 PM

I loved this barn, but I do have to say this barn was close to being gone and beyond recovery. But, despite it not being safe for anyone to go into today, I could here it saying I will survive. It certainly still made a great home for many creatures, including one deer and from the sounds I heard it is the home to many birds. So, I hope this great old barn never gives up and never surrenders and one day can be brought back to life.

oregon: How sweet it is: Two sweet world records beat in one day here in Oregon - 08/08/11 04:05 AM
Yep, you read that correctly, two world records were broken this weekend here in Oregon. Ever since I was a young kid and read my first Guinness Book of world records and watching Bobby and Cindy Brady try to break  a world record I’ve wanted to be in that book.
Well, this weekend I had my chance and I missed it! Yep, two records were broken here in Oregon this weekend. One I couldn’t have been involved in as it was the world’s largest box of donuts at 666 lbs. Then the second one was one that I could have … (6 comments)

oregon: The lost barn - 08/06/11 05:33 AM

Somewhere behind all those blackberry bushes is another Oregon barn lost to time. For pictures this barn was beautiful, but after years of neglect it certainly wasn’t what it was 50 years ago. Now, the barn is a home to many animals and in a couple weeks I’m guessing some delicious wild blackberries.

oregon: I Found My Thrill On Blueberry Hill - 08/05/11 05:04 AM
"I Found My Thrill On Blueberry Hill" and I have to say I really am enjoying the results. If you are in Oregon this time of the year then you need to try fresh blueberries in everything from muffins, pancakes, waffles , cookies and my favorite pies.
Now I’m a big fan of most things with blueberries, now we are real lucky this year with our weather and unlike the rest of the country we haven’t had a 90 degree day yet. So this makes it perfect for picking blueberries.

So, if you are in the Tigard / Beaverton area … (16 comments)

oregon: How much is peace and quiet worth when you buy a home - 08/04/11 04:50 AM
How much is peace and quiet worth when you buy a home? This was the question some of my newest clients had when they purchased a home. Why did they have this question? Well, the house they were buying was one of the most expensive in the city and would have been the highest priced home sold in the last six months upon close.
Despite all that, they had to have this home, it was a worry when it came to the appraisal, but they were buying the home as well as the peace and quiet that came with this home, … (14 comments)
