wildlife: Another BEEPING Roadrunner - 03/02/13 02:35 PM
It does seem that when you see one you see two or three more.  As you look to your left across the lake lot that is for sale there is nothing there as you look back again you see a lot of high speed traffic.  It is very fast and for sure it is breaking the speed limit in this lake development on Lake Granbury.  The object comes to a screeching stop and it was none other than Mr. Roadrunner going after a lizard for lunch.a sight often seen in this area.

wildlife: Living Yard Ornament - 07/22/11 06:19 AM
This beautiful Whitetail doe dresses up my front yard each morning and she appears to be a living yard ornament.  She sure does not get too excited when I walk past her to get my morning paper.  Of course she has a plan in mind because she knows that I will bring her a small bucket of corn to start off her day.
I do love watching the deer in the yard each day.  I have taken a lot of deer photos and posted them here and I do hope members like them as well.  It has been so dry here without enough … (15 comments)

wildlife: Todays Antelope photos - 08/21/10 03:53 PM
We made a little trip to Bandera Texas today to visit one of our favorite places to eat and while it is only twenty miles from our home I always take my camera with me.  While traveling down a little country road south of Bandera we spotted some Antelope crossing the road and I was able to get about three pictures of them before they vanished into the woods.  The horns on the Black Buck Antelope are very special as they are very tall and are formed in a spiral from the bottom to the tip.  The color on the bucks … (19 comments)

wildlife: HOT WEATHER DEER - 08/16/10 12:40 PM
The deer are starting to look for something green to eat.  I guess you could say they are doing their part to go green.  Even though these deer are on the dry part of our back yard they are working toward the green yard.  The White Tails and the Axis do get along as long as there are not a lot of either competing for food.  Their antlers are in the velvet and will be so for about two months.  In the winter we will have about thirty to forty deer in our back yard because it is a great place … (12 comments)

wildlife: DEER IN HIDING - 07/05/10 12:23 PM
This young whitetail doe thought she would not be detected if she just stood still and not even blink her eyes but her beauty gave her away.  She was only two blocks from town and with a buck not too far behind her.  The many deer and other animals in this area help make my day.  She would make a pinup picture.

wildlife: UNLIKLEY FRIENDS THE ORANGEUTAN AND THE HOUND - 03/30/10 12:14 PM
This is such a neat story of friends that are very strange at least to us human animals but it just goes to show us how we should look at others in our animal human group.  Ther is so much on the National Geographic web site to view it some times is just hard to take a break from it.  Please bring up this site at least for all of you animal lovers.  You can also go to www.nationalgergraphic.com and click on animals and nature and click on unlikley friends and then click on The Orangutan and the Hound, you will lovet … (7 comments)

wildlife: TODAY'S ANTELOPE PICTURES - 03/22/10 02:20 PM
Today, on my way home from the office and without one thought of seeing a herd of antelope and bingo off to my right and just a half mile from one of the golf courses were a herd of females.  They were headed toward a small hill and little valley after a trip to the Guadalupe River for water.
These are not very good pictures because they heard me stop on the shoulder of the road and they scattered running up the valley.  Sometimes the antelope are not as alert to traffic but when they are only a mile from the city … (10 comments)

wildlife: Black Buck Antelope - 03/18/10 02:09 PM
Well I missed getting some good pictures of a herd of antelope yesterday because I did not have my camera withe me, well same thing today.  However it was late 8:00pm our time today when I got home but I garbed my camera to see if there were any antelope still moving through the area.  I only  found one nice Black Buck Antelope close enough to take a picture of him and it is posted here.  There were a number of females but the were too far off to get any good photos.

wildlife: BACKYARD BUCK - 03/17/10 03:01 PM
This nice little whitetail buck stopped by for a snack of the Nandina berries and of course some of the bush as well.  The deer love to eat the red berries when they are ripe.  Sometimes they get a drink out of the pool while they are there.  I saw this one also eating out of the on ground bird feeder.  They are fun to watch and we have them everyday but never get tired of them.

wildlife: The Buffalo on The Range - 03/14/10 01:24 PM
We did a little road trip today to check out all of the fruit trees that have bloomed out within the last few days but we spent more time taking pictures of other items.  The other things happened to be historic buildings and a few animals such as buffalo and a few zebras along the way plus some black buck antelope.  Here are some pictures of the buffalo and the Camp Verde General Store , established in 1857 to provide supplies to Camp Verde Military Post.

wildlife: Mr. Buffalo and His Camel - 03/12/10 12:15 PM
The little town of Bandera has it's share of real strange people but they are strange in a good way.  Here is a picture of Mr. Buffalo and his baby camel that he brings into down town to let visitors pet him and take a picture or two.  He does not charge for the pictures but he does take tips---same thing.  Mr. Buffalo is his name because he also has a baby buffalo that he brings to the town area for pictures and visitors to see.
Bandera is a neat place to visit and or vacation, there are many Dude Ranches … (7 comments)

wildlife: Oh Deer ME - 03/10/10 10:28 AM
Hi! I am new to this group so if my pictures or post don't fit let me know.  Her are a few pictures of some Axis deer that feed through our yard each day.  There are also a few White Tail Deer that live in our back yard with an occasional antilope.  They like the water sprinkler in the summer time and of course they love the flowers and fruit trees.
I live in the Texas Hill Country and we have so many different animals here, Elk, Moose, many types of deer, camels, buffalo and even Oreo Cows.  The one picture … (13 comments)

wildlife: DEER IN THE BIRD FEEDER - 11/30/08 11:19 AM
Yes, we have deer everywhere, in the bird bath, the bird feeder, the water sprinkler, the front yard and the back yard.  We have about 30 Axis and 12 Whitetail that use our back yard for a place to bed down at night.  There so many deer and antelope in The Hill Country that many of them get killed just crossing the highways to either get to the river for water of to the ranchers hay fields to eat. The largest Whitetail buck that I have seen here was two blocks from the police station in downtown Kerrville walking right down the middle of … (10 comments)
