cape cod: Lower Cape Cod

The lower cape is where it's at for me. If you want big hotels, chain restaurants, and tawdry night clubs and entertainment, then go down on the South Shore along Route 28 through Hyannis and Hyannisport. Wellfleet is my preference where you have several natural ecosystems to experience. And if you want to get away from unending crowds, go between mid-June and mid-September. Wellfleet in May or October is heaven. Lots of birds, no big crowds, long beaches, and unobstructed access. … (0 comments)
cape cod: Property values i\on the Cape in 1956

In 1956, my dad bought 8 acres of land in Wellfleet about 750 feet back from Cape Cod Bay and built a house on it. The land cost $25/acre. He had a Techbuilt home put on it. That's a company that made modular homes. They brought out the house in sections and built it. He put it under the brow of the hill in the trees where he could see the shore but not be so exposed to weather, everybody seeing it, and to break ins. My dad was a very private person. cape cod: My first involvement with Cape Cod Real Estate

I first came to Cape Cod real estate in 1951, at the age of 5, when my mother rented a cabin at the Sea Shells in Wellfleet. She'd come to the Cape in the 1930s. It was a little place, but right on Wellfleet Harbor. My wife and I still rent a place in that same complex of cottages. It's a condo now, and my cousin, Ron Bosworth, owns it. Now it's 2008, I've been spending time on the came just about every year since then. Now I'm licensed to sell property on the Cape.
