abr: Epilogue to "Would you hire a pregnant realtor?" - 01/25/09 11:52 PM
A few months ago I posted this question to everyone and got many responses, most of which were that it shouldn't matter if the realtor was pregnant.  If the realtor was good at her job, she should get the listings she was pitching to get.  Well, of course that pregnant realtor was me and here's a diary of what happened.  Keep in mind that my baby due date was December 6th, 2008.
November 25th - showed properties all morning and then in the afternoon, went on listing presentation
November 26th - showed properties an hour away to a buyer of mine.

abr: Would You Hire a Pregnant Realtor? - 11/10/08 01:18 AM
Politically Correct Question of the Day!!  Let's get some honest answers.
WOULD YOU HIRE AN OBVIOUSLY PREGNANT REALTOR
If you ask, how pregnant?  What about 8 months pregnant.  Would you sign a listing contract with a realtor who could be popping out a baby anytime within the next 4 weeks?  Should this agent disclose to customers how close the due date is or should she downplay it and not offer unless they ask.  With technology playing such a big part in real estate now, just about everything can be done via laptop or cell phone so is it really a big … (15 comments)

abr: If I had a Dollar... - 11/10/08 12:03 AM
I'm sure agents out there have said the same thing as me; "If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me how the market is".
This past weekend my husband and I went out to dinner with some friends.  These friends own a small local car company and I have sold one of their houses for them in the past couple years.  Of course discussion eventually got around to the current housing market.  The housing market here in the Eau Claire/Chippewa Falls area is slow but has not come to a grinding halt like in other parts of the … (12 comments)

abr: Another Reason to Use a Buyers Agent! - 11/07/08 04:48 AM
I have clients who are in the planning stages for building their new house.  I have helped them meet builders and look at various residential lots and wrote up an offer for them on a vacant lot.  On our offer, we made sure to include that we wanted the property lines verified by the survey company.  And it's a good thing we did!!
The buyers were at the lot today to observe where the builder had staked out for the house and driveway and the neighbor who has a house on the lot next door came out to tell them that … (5 comments)

abr: Things that I'm Thankful For Today - 10/29/08 01:14 AM
Wrong Holiday maybe for this but I think all of us need inspiration every day.  Here's the things that inspire me!
The beautiful sunrise coming up over the top of the trees by my house.  Yes, it's 20 degrees outside but if I squint from my window I can block out the frost on my lawn.
My 4-year old daughter who will stop in the middle of her playing to run over, hug me, and say "I love you Mommy".
Our office receptionist, Casey, who is truely more than just a receptionist and always has chocolate for me and stops to … (2 comments)

abr: Fall in Wisconsin - 10/13/08 02:25 AM
Over the years, my husband and I have often thought about moving to a different part of the United States.  We both live within 45 minutes of our hometowns where we grew up and neither of us have traveled much throughout the United States or abroad.  I think it's weekends like the one we just had that keep us here.  It was an unusual weather weekend with 75 degrees and sunny skies in the middle of October.  But the real beauty is in the trees around us...the leaves have turned such beautiful colors that I am often tempted to stop my … (1 comments)

abr: Are your listings outdated? - 08/12/08 12:22 AM
It never fails that when I am browsing our MLS, I find outdated information that has been posted by the listing realtor and no longer applies.  Here's a few outdated quotes and other information that I recently found;
1.  Some of the pictures have snow in them!  OK, I live in Wisconsin where we have winter for several months but it's now August and last time I looked, all the snow is gone!  There is no excuse to have a picture of your listing with snow.  This also applies to pictures that were taken this spring when the trees were bare … (10 comments)

abr: Why have a Buyers Agent - 07/24/08 06:43 AM
What is a buyers agent and what do they do?
A Buyers Agent is a realtor who is working for the buyer.  The agent is trying to get the buyer the best price for the house with the best terms.  The Buyers Agent does research that helps get the buyer these things.  Here's an outline of the advantages of working with a Buyers Agent:
1.  Loyalty - That agent is working for YOU.  If the house is overpriced, the agent will show you comparables that support the correct price.   The listig agent of the house is working for the SELLER and … (2 comments)
