The Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) is the regulatory body charged by the Florida Legislature to protect the general public by regulating real estate brokers and brokerage firms, broker associates, sales associates, and real estate schools and instructors.

A minimum of 14 hours of commission-approved classroom instruction during each license renewal period (excluding the first renewal period of your current license when 45-hours of post-license education is required). A minimum of three of the 14 required hours must consist of the FREC-prescribed Core Law courses. 
The other 11 hours may consist of  “specialty” courses on real estate practices approved by FREC.  A licensee who takes the 3-hour Core Law course in each year of the renewal period is allowed a total of 6 hours toward the 14-hour requirement.  In such event, the “specialty” course hours need total only 8 … (3 comments)

Commission General Powers and Duties
The powers and duties of FREC fall into three general areas of responsibility.
1) Executive Powers
− Power to regulate and enforce license law
2) Quasi-legislative
− Power to enact rules and regulations
3) Quasi-judicial
− Hears complaints, disciplines licensees, determines Recovery Fund claims
FREC powers and duties also include these specific duties:

− Becomes prima facie evidence that the document is authentic.
 Foster education
− Fosters education in ethical, legal and business principles.
