I doubt many of you have seen this view of the launching pad. with a shuttle and booster in place, and ready to take off. It's usually a restricted area by then, very few get to see it. And it's hard to see the scale of it... take a look at some of the cars in the background to feel the size.
Here's another view of a different lift off - the sky has changed colour and created a bit more drama... c'mon, doesn't anybody see Richard Weisser's style in these... Other than the fact that they don't contain much flora or fauna, and there's no covered bridge... I think they look just like his.
Then there's a view of the midwest... showcasing beautiful Lake Michigan, along with her sister lakes. Those of you familiar with the lakes can see more than those labeled.
For those of you who have difficulty remembering the great lakes, here's a little mnemonic that I learned as a kid ... H-O-M-E-S... Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior...
(today's teaching moment)
And the Nile delta, and that troubled region. I don't know if it's just the gravitation-ist in me, but I've always been bothered by the Nile flowing UP, instead of DOWN. (North instead of South)... somehow it seems wrong... don't know why.
Still not done... more to follow.
