March 31st, 1918 is the day that daylight savings time was first used in the United States. I guess there are good and bad arguments for it. I told my dad once that it was part of the energy policy for the country. He replied that it was the entire energy policy for the country.

I've heard at least 3 different reasons for Daylight Savings Time. The most logical is about the days when farmers got up early to feed the animals and tend the crops, and they needed the daylight so they could continue to start early. But I've heard a couple of wacky ones too.
