Chocolate Kahlua Cake

By

I just had to share this recipe with you!  It is divine and I usually make it for our annual luau, but had this craving for it today.  Can't wait to take a bite - it is super rich - have a glass of milk handy!

Charlotte's Kahlua Cake:chocolate cake

1 box of Duncan Hines Swiss Chocolate cake mix (I have never been able to find this, I use Devil's Food)

3/4 cup of oil

1 pint of Sour Cream

4 eggs

1 small pkg of instant chocolate pudding

1/3 c Kahlua

6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

powdered sugar or chocolate frosting

Mix all ingredients except chocolate chips in large mixing bowl until well blended. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Pour in greased and floured bundt pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 55 - 60 minutes.  Cool ten miutes and remove from pan.  Sprinkle with powdered sugar or drizzle with chocolate frosting.

You won't be sorry Jess - I just served it tonight at a Networking For Women's Board Meeting and it was very well received and is plenty easy to make!  Enjoy!

Oh I will be trying this!  You should also post this to the group "Recipes."

Sheila, looks very tempting.  I try to shy away from these treats more and more these days.  Once in a while is ok.  Looks good though, maybe I'll give it a whirl some time.

Sheila, can I expect to find this at the Post Office? Or, will it be at Whit's End? I'm a sucker for chocolate.

Sharon - I had no idea there was a group like that!  Give it a try - you will love it!

Tony - This isn't something you could eat everyday.  I make it a couple times of year and usually when entertaining.  It is wonderful!

Andrew - Won't find any at the post office, but I might be convinced to bring it to Whitt's End.  I'll be set up there on the 28th again to kick off her tent sale.  I agree - chocolate should be a food group as far as I am concerned!

Hi Sheila ... do you think I could substitute the Kahlua for Baileys? I'm not a mocha fan ... what do you think?

Hi Liz - I don't see why not.  I have never baked with Baileys, but it might be wonderful!  Let me know how the experiment goes!

Naturally the title of THIS blog caught my eye (or my taste buds), but I was actually thinking it might be about a new paint colour.  LOL ... either way, yummy !

Sandi- what a great name for a paint color - how creative!  I always thought that would be a fun job - naming the paint chips!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

I made the cake yesterday for my daughter-in-law's baby shower.  Hit of the shower!  OMG, they were crazy for it!  My husband says it is the best cake he has ever had.  I used a chocolate glaze from another recipe for the top and it complimented it well.

Mocha Jake's Sauce

In a medium sauce pan bring 1 Cup water to boil.

Combine:  3/4 C unsweetened cocoa, 3/4 C sugar, 1 heaping TBSP instant coffee, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon, pinch of salt.   Add to boiling water, stir constantly for about 5 mins.  Mixture will thicken.

Remove from heat and pour into bowl to cool...about 15 mins.

Actually I only used about half of this for the cake, so you could cut the recipe in half.

Sharon - I can't wait to try the glaze!  Thank you for sharing it!  I am glad that it was well received at the shower!  I love it and haven't had a complaint yet!
