Do you have the 'Heart of a Teacher'? How does it benefit your business to 'share' information with your competition?
With Public opinion of real estate agents not always favorable, it is important that we do all we can to insure our fellow REALTORS® are putting their best foot forward.
When a brand new agent joins your office, do you welcome them with open arms and sound advice? If you were honest; Do you look at a new agent as competition rather than as an associate? Do you get so caught up thinking that they mean lost revenue, that you close yourself off to assisting them. Do you hope they will fail and get out of this business, so there will be more for you?
One of my favorite quotes is, "Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It's what you do for others." Danny Thomas. If you really want to improve your business, learn to play well with others. I have met a lot of highly successful people in this business and one thing I have learned from these people is that the vast majority have the 'Heart of a Teacher.' They truly have gotten ahead by being honest, and helpful to others. These are the top-producers who still take the time to mentor a new agent.
We can change public opinion, by helping to educate each other. Sharing information also opens the line of communication for others to want to share with you. Take advantage of power lunches with other REALTORS®, go to your local board mixers, spend time with successful people and make it a goal to learn and teach one new thing to a fellow REALTOR® each day.
Thank-you to all the great REALTORS® with the 'Heart of Teachers' that I have learned from this week. You inspire me to inspire others. May your day be blessed!
