Mother's Recipe Box: Grandmas's Baked Beans
- 1-2 cups dry beans from last year's pole bean crop from her garden or 1 lb can baked beans
- 1 lb can butter beans
- 1 lb kidney beans
- 1/2 medium onion (from her garden of course)
- 1/2 lb bacon cut in small pieces (she prefers slab bacon)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1-2 cups beef or veggie broth (depends on type of beans you use dried or canned) Add more if too dry.
Optional: ketchup & dry mustard How much? It depends on the taste.
I think I will have to experiment to get Grandmas' Baked Beans to measure up to the family's expectations.
