For the 7th month in a row, December 2009 home sales topped reported sales of the same month in 2008 in the mountains of Murphy, North Carolina and Cherokee County. There were 29 home sales recorded, as compared to 20 in December of last year. Overall sales in the last 4 months of 2009 are up a whopping 43% over 2008's figures.
Another 15 homes were reported as pending. With 47 new listings for the month, there was a 94% absorption rate of properties coming on the market. The total number of homes currently on the market is 750, down 10.4% from December 1.
