Linda Mae:  You are so right.  But... I can just see the comments, now.  Accusing you of being too "idealistic."  Well, I am sorry, but I, too, want to live in a idealistic world... where all people feel loved.

Gone are the days when we as a country have to fear that some other country... the last "villain" was the Soviet Union... was going to invade America.  Right now, I do not believe that ANY country wants to do that.  There is just so much fear rampant in this world... and after many nations in this world who do not agree with our politics, or our religion, or our "whatever"... when all these nations have seen the United States unilaterally INVADE a country like Iraq... that had done NOTHING to the United States... well... they strike back out of fear, and out of hatred.  And... who can blame them for being so fearful ?  Just look what we have done in the past.  There just MUST be a better way.

Well said LM.  Its a friendly reminder to "the others" that they are not the only ones protected by our flag!  Nor are they not the only patriotic people in this country!

The ones who ought to read this the most will skip it and hold on to the America they love, however far removed from the ideals of this country that may be.  Patriotism bred of fear of others is the only thing I am genuinely scared of.  I left a place like that a long time ago.

Thanks Linda Mae - i've missed your words.

I agree with everything you say except with profiling. I believe in profiling. If I had to search an old white lady with two suitcases coming from England or a young middle eastern man with no luggage and transferring from Yemen, can you guess which one I would choose? ;)

Profiling?  I believe in it as well.  And will do a post on it soon.  I would search the old white lday with two suitcases from England.  Why would an old lady need two suitcases, unless she was brining in those damn plum puddings?  Those things have the same consistancy as the bomb making plastics and always set off the alarms, so that can't be the reason.  She's very much suspect.
