Great photo. Certainly a positive contrast with the office buildings in the background.

Craig, Thanks, They are actually apartment buildings in the background.
Gloria, Yes, For over 20 years community preservationists have been trying to save the Church. At one point a 21 story high rise condominium was to be built above the church. The NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission finally designated it an official Landmark.
Indeed it looks very old and reminds me of Europe where buildings are not torn down just because they're old.
