Wordless Wednesday  -  On the way to Oneonta NY

Last Saturday on the way to Oneonta NY I passed many wonderful scenes.  It is amazing that many still think of NY in terms of New York City, however if you head out of the city you will soon encounter vast open space.

So here are a few of the scenes I took from the back seat of a moving car on the way to Oneonta.

Hill and snow on the way to oneonta nyBeautiful rural scene on the way to Oneonta NYSnow covered hills on the way to Oneonta NY

Here are a few questions for you.

1 Do you know which county Oneonta is in?

2 What well known music college is located there?

3 Which hall of fame can be found there?

The only place I have ever been in New York, is New Your City. And I loved it. It's pretty clear I would love the rest of the state, too!

Hi Jennifer... the snow looks so pristine your pictures!  As for the trivia questions... I'm 0 for 3, unless I cheat by using Google as a lifeline!

If I remember right it is in Ostego county.

I think the college is Suny or Hartwick.

It is the Soccer Hall of Fame there.

It iswhard not to think of NYC, but there is a whole lot more of New York than that to see.

Marybeth Glad you appreciated the photos of the NY scenery.

Josee That is true, NY offers a variety of terrain.

An I can see why you would feel that way since you are in sunny Florida :)

George - And that is what makes this state so interesting.  You can go to NYC for that city experience but in less than 2 hours you can be out in a rural area.

Debi I can assure you the rest of the state does have much to offer especially since you love taking photos.

Steve  It is beautiful to look at.  I hope you check back for the answers.

Guy Thank you for coming up with all three answers.  The college I had in mind was Harwick.

Pat I am not happy with this snow, my dogwood trees were damage under the weight of the snow.  And yes there is more to come.

Lynda I just gave the answer.  I know how you feel, I have ran across questions like these where I was clueless.

Joan thank you.  I hope we won't have more snow , but I think that's asking for much.

Ray I am also hoping this snow will be history soon.  Good seeing you as usual.

Bill That is so true.

Hi Jennifer,  As an Oneonta Realtor and a native of the area, I appreciated your post about our area.  When visiting other states or countries, it is hard to impress upon others that we are not like New York City.  In my first business I had to go to NYC every couple of weeks just for the day.  Coming home to the silence and the starlit sky always made me appreciate our area, only a few hours away.  We have become a great second home market for downstate buyers and continue to be a great place to visit. Cooperstown (Baseball Hall of Fame) being only 20 miles away.

Hi Jennifer, Those photos are in stark contrast to New York City, and very beautiful. It was interesting to come by and learn the answers to your questions - I didn't have a clue.

Gita thank you. I also appreciate learning about parts of the country I probably will never get to.  Isn't this network great?

Mary it certainly is a stark contrast, yet I like them both.  I love the activities in the city but I like to retreat to a quiet country life.

Tom thanks for stopping by, I so love to discover new New York members.  I agree there is something so calming about the wide open space and the ability to star gaze.

Jennifer  - You are so right that people confuse the rest of NY with NY City.  I think it would surprise s0o many people who have never been here to know how much raw land is in NY State
