The Real Advantage of Facebook for Realtors...in Case You Haven't Already Figured it Out!

A lot of realtors and other business professionals will post on Facebook religiously everyday about their products. I think they have the wrong idea of what Facebook is designed to do, particularly for business. Afterall what is facebook grouped into but Social Media Marketing. What is Social Media Marketing? Basically sites like facebook are set up to actually be social and create friends and aquaintances, basically for businesses it is the 'Business Card Exchange' of the Virtual World! Networking with others and making new friends. Reminiscing with old friends from your younger days and yes BRANDING yourself.

How you Brand yourself should be FUN first and foremost. This is a Social Site! Gradually let friends know what you do but don't cram your services or listings down someones WALL. People would probably just 'Hide' you if they see it too much. Get involved with the site and be genuine. Comment, 'like', or add photos or links to others posts. It can be a Networking Goldmine if done correctly. Have Fun. Gotta go someone just messaged me on FB! LOL!

I try to limit my REALTOR posts to once a week and I try to do more than just listings (if they want to know about my listings, they will call me).  I'm still adjusting to Facebook (since I don't really like it as a concept but realize the value it might bring if utilized correctly) so hopefully I'll do ok.

Most of my friends are aware that I am arealtor- I don't want to shove it down their throats veryday...  I agree keep it a social site- otherwise you may just drive away business!

I think if you post an update about what you are doing, for example, 'stuck on a long home inspection in Boardman today', you are reminding everyone what you do for a living, and you aren't pushing inventory at them. I think Facebook is a good place to tell your story, so it's ok to 'talk' about work amoungst the group.
