RainCamp LIVE in Los Angeles
The excitement has been brewing for a few weeks and the day finally arrived. Having heard so much about RainCamp I was pretty stoked to be able to attend, especially since I had to be in LA the day before (after the week in DC for NAR and CRS) for my daughter's graduation.
It's been great fun to actually meet some folks I have been following and have gotten to know but had never met - Kat De Long, Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Stewart Penn, and Cheryl Johnson, to name just a few - to catch up with friends I haven't seen in a while (Melissa, Rocky, Irina, Ted, Christine), and to meet some new bloggers as well. But certainly another big piece of the fun is the learning.
There's more to come today, now that we are talking about AR itself, but there were a few learnings that really jump out. While I've been blogging for a little while, I always find I learn new things when I attend these meetings or talk to fellow bloggers, and today has been no exception.
INTERESTING and USEFUL SITES
RunPee.com - need to know when to get up and use the restroom during a movie. Not sure how much utility this really has but it was fun to learn about
Phototsynth.com - relates photos to each other around a common theme. Why not take a pic of a house, then take a photo of the hallway, etc. and it will become a virtual tour
Wiggio.com - collaboration software. You add groups you are a member of including your business or team, and can send text messages, send email blasts
XOBNI.com (inbox) - Outlook plugin that will find your contacts' Facebook profiles, etc. from the Internet
SU.PR - a way to shorten URLs to make sharing easier in your marketing
BIT.LY - another was to shorten emails. Can track where the URL was clicked (I use this all the time on Twitter and Facebook, too)
MAILCHIMP.com - a way to send email blasts. Stats will tell you how many and who opens them, the % of bounces, etc.
GOLDMAIL.com - add video inside your emails
AWAYFIND.com - an autoresponder-type of site that sends an email back to writer when you are away from your email. Allows the writer to click and send a message back to you if urgent/important
99DESIGNS.com - designers compete to do marketing pieces, logos, websites, etc. for you. You pick the one you want
GOOGLE.com/voice - you own the phone number
SLYDIAL.com - shows up as a missed call on their cell and takes you to their voice mail directly
There's been some fun, of course, and I decided I'll forgive Brad for making an example of me...since we're good friends. But I may have to get back at him before the day is out. But perhaps I'll behave and keep him in suspense.
