Real Estate Broker/Owner

This coming weekend, June 26th and 27th,  you will have an opportunity to visit local farms in the Asheville area.

For those of you looking to come to Asheville to create a family farm, this could be the perfect opportunity to look at a number of farms (37 at last count.)  Sponsored by ASAP, the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project, the Family Farm Tour covers six counties in Western North Carolina.

Looking at Asheville area for family  farm real estate in an entertaining way this summer,  fits the bill and  gives you and your family members a close-up look at what farming is all about here in the Asheville area mountains. You can speak with  the owners of family farms when you take the Mountain Family Farm Tour.

Acquaint yourself  with the Asheville region “ home to agriculture of all kinds, ranging from century farms cultivated by the same family for generations, to certified organic farms, to urban gardens.”

Get to know the animals goats, chickens, lambs, and maybe some you did not expect too visit-  bison and  llamas! And then see for yourself what  traditional skills in practice are all about—and even try them out yourself—from outdoor apple butter making, milking, wool spinning and much more.

Last year we were fascinated to see farms using tour  renewable energy systems, a hydroponics system, and how edible landscapes work on the farms. We are looking forward to another scoop of artisan ice cream to top off the picnic we’ll have at a farm along the way. Click here for a PDF file on the 2010 Asheville Mountain Area Farm Tour Guide
