I received a follow up email from "neighborsgo" Editor, Angela Chambers and I have included it below.  I just blogged about this new "magazine like" publication  in the Dallas Morning News yesterday (click here)and forwarded the link on to Ms. Chambers.  Her response is below in the form of this invitation.

I plan on being at the Plano/Murphy party sometime between 10 - 1 PM on Saturday, August 18th.  Hope to meet some of my fellow local Active Rainers there!

You're all invited! (I've highlighted the details)

I want to invite you to join me and other neighborsgo employees at the West Plano and/or Plano/Murphy neighborsgolaunch parties next Saturday, Aug. 18, at two Starbucks locations.

There will be free chair massages, complimentary Starbucks beverages, face painting, raffle drawings for Texas Rangers tickets and more, trivia games and performances by the Electric Cheer Company.

I do think it is funny that they have lumped Central Plano and Murphy together.  They are pretty far apart.

Tom thanks for the friend request - and you're in my network now, Linda, I just sent you a friend's request too. I was also curious about how they put Plano/Murphy together - it's a different set up on the web page with East, Central and West separate.

The Editor, Angela Chambers, has responded to both emails I've sent (I was impressed) and was encouraging to get others to read.

The fact that it is a "reader-submitted" article publication is interesting to me and that anyone can submit work, photos, events, etc. regarding the Plano area. (or where ever you live)  How they choose the work submitted I don't know but it could be a good forum for charitable events, organizational announcements, student works etc.  I just think it's cool, like an old school type town paper, in the larger setting of the DMN reaching many households in our area.

Karen, you are right.  I'm involved with the Junior League of Plano and the Plano West Rotary so this will be a great avenue to get the word out about events regarding these great organizations.

go for it Linda! I plan on being at the launch on Saturday at Coit/GBush. just to meet the Editors and let them know that I plan on submitting info every now and then too. It's always nice to have a face behind the name. If you plan on going let me know and I'll plan on being there when you want.

I've been looking at the profiles and there are many that are just businesses too - so you could even sign up the different organizations you're a part of to have their own "profile"  - There is also a Downtown Plano profile - apparently they just started a new website this past Saturday and the Downtown Sundown was featured.  I sent a "friends" request to them as well.
