Most people do not understand the value of a good solid domain name. Some names are literally almost priceless as they will generate $1,000's of dollars monthly on autopilot. This is especially true in the real estate industry. If you have a top notch domain name then you will be hard pressed to fail in the real estate world.
When looking for a name you want a good one, however 99% if not more of the good ones are taken. If you have the opprutunity to buy a domain name for a large market at a decent rate, DO IT! It can be well worth it depending on the factors. You want a name that is searched in large volumes, a very nice volume for anything in the real estate industry is maybe 5,000+, some of the super names have 10k - 20k+. The bigger the search volume for your keyword domain name the better.
Example of good names: NewYorkRealEstate.com, Dallashomes.com, Chicagohomesforsale.com
Example of bad names: NYCrealestate1.com, Bobsdallashomes.info, Chicago-homesunlimited.com
Don't be afraid of .net domain names either, they have the same value in the eyes of google, and can be purchased for much cheaper than .com's.
You can check the stats of how many times a keyword is searched at SEMRush.com. Also, be sure to check your domain name to see what keywords your website ranks for.
think of it this way, if you owned dallashomes.com for example. that keyword "dallas homes" gets searched 12,000 times (roughly)a month on google. If you were to get it in spot #1, you would capture 30% of the market or 30% of the clicks(roughly). So your website would get 3,600 visitors monthly from that 1 keyword. If you could convert around 5% to leads, you would get 180 leads monthly. And if you converted 1 out of 20 of those leads to a closing, you would get 9 closings a month. The dallas market average is around $200k and at 3% that is $6,000 a closing. So 9 closings x $6,000 = $54,000 monthly from 1 keyword!!!!
So I hope this helps everyone understand the value of a solid domain name. If you have any questions be sure to ask me! Check out my website at USARealtyservices.com, we are converting about 8% of our traffic to leads.
