Speechless Sunday-A View from Winchell Mountain in the Town of Northeast NY

Today I was traveling through the town of Northeast Dutchess County into the State of Connecticut.   It was a beautiful day and I was sitting in the back seat of the car just enjoying the scenery and taking shots as the car moved along.

On the way back we travelled up Winchell Mountain Road in the town of Northeast, this spot lies between the village of Millerton and Pine Plains.

Well, just at the top of the hill I saw the wide open fields and the mountain in the background and thought how beautiful this place was.  With the car moving I still tried to get a shot.  Here is the result.

Winchell Mountain

Since I'm originally from Iowa, that looks awfully familiar to me.  Of course, it's got a little more rolling hills than we had, LOL.

Great picture.  Thank you for sharing.

That looks like a corn field doesn't it? Whatever it is, that must have been a very relaxing drive.

Julie this scene would be familiar to you with the exception of the mountains.  I need to see hills and mountains without the contrast I feel lost.

Lynda that is really corn; acres of it.

Richard it is amazing how this one grain touch our lives even if we don't know it.

Ray it is sad but my camera is discontinued and I can't figure out why.  It is the Kodak EasyShare V570

Liz the scenery between the town of Northeast NY and Connecticut is so beautiful.  I could take it all in since I was in the back seat of the car.

Bill can you tell I really love the natural surroundings?  I am glad you appreciate my photos.

Debbi you would be amazed at what you could discover in a short drive around here.

Gary well I am glad I am providing a service.  I should probably put the mountain photos in a flickr set and share.

Joan the cameras are all gone.  It was less disruptive than we thought it would be.  Probably because of the lack of celebrity guests.

Morgan that is really corn, and yes the ride was relaxing.  If you ever want to take a ride in the country the Northeast NY CT corridor is beautiful.

George yes that is sweet corn.  You are so right that was a beautiful and peaceful ride.

Jennifer,

What a peaceful and tranquil landscape. When the objects are far, like the hill in the background, you always have a good chance of a stable shot even from a moving car. Doing is with something that is close, like houses on the other side of the road is much more difficult.

Terrific photo

Jennifer, We lived in North Carolina for a couple of years but it made me claustrophobic as I missed the wide open spaces.  (I'm originally from Kansas) I do love trees though which makes my area of Texas perfect. We have trees but also lots of wide open spaces.

Jennifer  The Hudson Valley is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful parts of our country - we enjoyed travelling throigh it when we lived in Scarsdale
