Senioritis

"Senioritis", the syndrome with symptoms of painful endurance;  of slow, longsuffering, last days of school, has an advanced strain which remains dormant  for several years and recurs randomly among folks my age.  Its recurrence takes on much different symptoms.

I should have recognized the signs...I've had knee surgery recently and both hips replaced a few years ago.  Aches and pains appear out of nowhere.  I'm thinking my doctors should give me a volume discount, or at least a "Top Patient" parking space!   My car's jealous because I've been getting all the repairs!

Senioritis has literally stopped me in my tracks and given me a hard dose of reality:  that I once was one who always loved and participated in sports and activities, pursuing the challenge of excellence in each for many, many, years, but that time is so not now!  In other words, all I have left are a bunch of "E" tickets (boomer brethren and Disneyland aficionados will understand)!  Once the football, karate, track and tennis jock, I have earned the new status of "enthusiast" for those activities.   This was not my idea of an out-of-body experience!  I'm still staying active, but sensibly, with aerobics, ballroom/salsa dance, weight training and other activities that pique my interest  (recommendations appreciated!).

Yes, I am officially a senior, though at times some will deny it, not because of my youthful good looks, but because they hesitate to give me a discount!
