Texting

I have to share a funny story about a couple that I helped with purchasing their first home.  They were a young couple, but had done all the right things to prepare for buying their first home. We spent days in the car looking for the perfect home for them.  The husband sat upfront with me and the wife sat in the back with a family member that had come along to help with the decision making.  The things is they did not talk out loud they spent the time texting each other, every so often one of them would say out loud "nuha" or something like that.  Of course when they had a question for me they would ask out loud seeing how I was driving and would not be able to read my text messages!

I happened to mention it in the office one day as I giggled about it and one of my co workers ask me if I was offended by that because they could have been talking bad about me.  No I did not take offense, they are young and that is how they preferred to communicate.

Ultimately we did find the perfect house for them and they were very happy.  They gave me a very nice thank you gift and I get a card from them here and there and yes an occasional text message.....

They bring a smile to my face everytime I think of them! :0)

Melissa, this is a funny/odd story. Different strokes for different folks. Texting works for them and you served them well.

Well at least you weren't distracted while driving!  We just need to be flexible - I'm just afraid that we'll end up with a whole generation of carpal thumb-al syndrome!

Thats a great story, I sure I would have found it a little odd at the beginning but the more I see the younger never talking on the phone the more I understand it...sort of LOL

At least you weren't texting while driving ... kids these days!  My texting abilities are limited - my thumbs don't type as fast as my fingers.  Great story - thanks for sharing.

What a shame that testing has replaced conversation in the lives of the kids today.  That together with their spelling skills is quickly disappearing.

That is no different than some couples that are bilingual.  You have no idea what they are saying, you just hope and pray it is positive, they are happy and you get the sale.

What a funny story!  This will probably become the norm - for the younger generation at least.   Good for you for not judging them.  You're right - its just the way they prefer to communicate.  At least they're communicating - some couples don't even do that!

Melissa,

That was funny! I can see that it could have been a bit unnerving, though.
