Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!!

Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!!  Well, why not?  SafeLink and TracFone Wireless are giving free cell phones and minutes to the poor according to their website and we are paying for it (not available in all states).  Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!! is surely on its way next.  So how do the poor get a free cell phone with about 70 free minutes per month?  They ask for it and prove they are on a public assistance program such as Food Stamps, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), etc.

No, there is NOT an Obama phone!!  That's a myth, urban legend, hoax!!  However, ever since the Universal Service Fund fees were added to our phone bill, funds have been collected and the FCC recently approved a public assistance program which allows the subsidy from our Universal Service Fund fees to be used for free minutes by SafeLink and TracFone Wireless provides free wireless phones for those minutes.

Now here is where the Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!! comes in.  Why not add in fees from all homes for sale that get SOLD to provide a Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!!?  A 1% fee would just take the sale of 100 homes to provide the subsidy for this new Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!!

Well, I for one, dealing in Lawrence Kansas real estate, am thrilled the free phone and free minutes plan has not come to Kansas and I'm sure my REALTOR brother in Davenport Iowa (Lucky Lang) is thrilled it has not come to Iowa either.  We are also quite thrilled there is NO Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!! that comes from fees added on to homes for sale that get SOLD!!  Home buyers should not be penalized for buying a home and for that matter we shouldn't be penalized with Universal Service Fund fees to pay for someone else's minutes!

Whatever happened to hard work to earn what we get?  God's law says "If a man will not work, he shall not eat." (2 Thess 3 :10b) and the new law replacing it is entitlement to free stuff!  NOTE: I'm fine with helping people but I believe it should be tied with encouragement, training, and accountability in a program like Habitat for Humanity or Family Promise where there is an expectation of accountability.

Would you support a Free Houses for the Poor Welfare Program!! funded by a 1% transaction fee from each homes for sale getting SOLD?

Rob, great idea! If we were kind enough to pay for someone elses home, the next step would be to raise a couple thousand $ per year for each homeowner so they could properly maintain the home. There are probably enough assistance programs in place already to pay for their utility costs. Since nobody would have a reason to look for a job, there wouldn't be a need for economic recovery. This policy could lead us to a utopia, I'm excited about the future now!
