Grass Lawn Park Ball Fields Redmond Washington
During the years we have lived in Kirkland we have often gone by the Grass Lawn Park. The most remarkable feature from the road is the soccer play field. It seems like there is never a time during waking hours that a team is not playing on that field.
I have clear memories of driving by at 10:00 at night, in the winter. The field is ablaze in light, and teams are playing, in the rain. Or sometimes they are playing in the cold, each breath visible in the bright light.
Grass Lawn Park has some exceptionally great ball fields.
A sign describes some of the adult sports leagues that use the fields. Softball, Men’s Basketball, Coed Volleyball, Soccer, Women’s Basketball and Men’s Baseball. It goes on to say, “Come and play at some of the best fields and gyms on the East side.” I would heartily agree with that statement.
There are three basketball courts, two full and one half.
There are six full tennis courts that are fully fenced, and a half court against a wall for practice doing your serve.
The soccer field I referred to above was completely redone several years ago. It now has a new playing surface, new lights, bleachers and a running track all around the field.
In the middle of Grass Lawn Park is a world class baseball diamond, with high fencing, special surface, full lighting, bleachers and dugouts. It was being used for a lively game of Cricket the last time I was there.
Another baseball diamond is behind the first one. It is very cleverly striped and laid out so it can be a second soccer field or a baseball diamond, as the need dictates.
There are 12 different adult ball fields at Grass Lawn Park. They seem to be in use almost every day, and almost every hour during the day.
There are two very adequate parking lots. The East one has access coming south off of 148th Ave NE. The West one has access going West off of Old Redmond Road.
When you combine the great ball playing areas with fantastic children’s play areas, this park is one of the most versatile and useful parks on the entire East Side.
