This past Thursday morning (August 12, 2010) a man attempted to rob a business in Fontana, California but was unsuccessful.
The suspect entered the location on Foothill Boulevard at 8:30am when an employee was just opening the business. The suspect showed the employee a black handgun in his waistband, whereupon the employee opened the teller area. The would-be burglar was unable to get into the safe and left the location moments later. The employee, who had activated the alarm as she entered the business, was not injured in the incident.
Now, I wasn't able to find specifics, but I'm guessing this was either a bank or maybe a payday loan place. Either way, this guy should get a stupidity award for not being prepared! Extra kudos go to the employee who had the presence of mind to trip the alarm.
