Wow, too much excitement for one day of driving over the Grapevine in Southern California.
We were driving to and over a stretch of hills and freeway named the 'Grapevine' north of Los Angeles last week.
Within about 1 hour, rubberneckers slowed us all down and we saw 3 events:
1. A car that had caught on fire at the side of the freeway.
2. Then, within 30 minutes, a fire between the freeway lanes, threatening some buildings.
3. And, then #3 for good measure: a bad accident with a few people laid out on the road.
We saw all of this within an hour of each other.
The moral to the story is to be very careful when cruising in the roads. Yesterday there was a 69 car accident on the I-10 freeway in the Phoenix area.
