Starbucks Removes "Tall" Size from Drive-Up Menu

Calling all Starbucks fan......  As of 8/31/10, all Starbucks Drive-Up Menu's have had the "Tall" size removed as a selection.  Many people are upset about this change because they feel that Starbucks is being a bit underhanded and shady, trying to increase drive-thru dollar sales.  Starbucks says that this is not the case and that customers have been requesting a simplified menu for years.  They also went from about 70 items to a menu of only 25.

The Good News?  You can still order a "Tall" at the drive-thru, it just won't be on the menu.  The regular in store menu will also still show the "Tall" as an option.

You may wonder why I would post such a thing on a real estate blog?  First of all, I would guess that most people are either Starbucks fans (or possibly even groupies) or at least have been to a Starbucks and would go again in the future.  But secondly, I think that this information is pertinent to today's economy.  People are figuring out more and more ways to save money and for some people that might mean ordering a "Tall" instead of a "Venti" at Starbucks.  Just a small example of the lifestyle cutbacks people are choosing to make.

More to come later this week on where else Americans are cutting back and the general economic attitude of many Americans.

You know they had changed the drive thru menu at my local Starbucks. It threw me off and the "tall" was not on there so I ordered the "Venti" evan though I didn't want it. I told the guy at the window and he never offered the smaller size.  Thanks for posting...

I did notice this myself recently. I am a regular at my local Starbucks Drive-Thru. Those that are regulars will not be affected by this change. However, I do see how it has been put in place to drive up Drive-Thru ordering to those not familiar with the menu. It is all about the dollar.....

You are lucky to have a drive through Starbucks! In the DC metro area there are no drive through Starbucks anywhere close to the inner areas of the city!

It is interesting that they would remove the smaller size from the drive thru menu in an effort to "downsize" and make it less busy and complicated.  Hmmm....something to think about.  Especially if you do not realize that there still is a smaller size and they do not offer it in print.  Thank you for posting this.
