Stowe Vermont Foliage Arts Festival - Annual Event - October 2010
The Stowe Foliage Arts Festival is one of my favorite annual events. The Craftproducers present the event which is located at the Topnotch Field in Stowe. The weekend it is held is usually at the peak of the Stowe foliage season. Not only are visitors treated to the natural beauty surrounding the event, they are overwhelmed by exhibitors' products which range from paintings, jewelry, and pottery to music and food.
This year did not disappoint me. The sky was blue, the fall colors were at peak on Mt. Mansfield, and the temperature was in the 60's. I arrived early - 10:00 a.m. - before the masses of tourists showed up. As Craftproducers say "The artists and artisans who display at the show have put their heart and soul into everything they offer". Items available include lamps, cabinets, coffee mugs, stained glass, paintings, prints, photography, woven rugs, marble benches, birdbaths, brooms, socks, hats, and jewelry. Also, of course, is the food. There was the Vermont Cheese, Beer and Sausage tent featuring Vermont-brewed beers, The food court was also a hit with items such as organic wood fired pizza, fresh apple cider, homemade ice cream and crepes.
There was also a food vendor tent. Here you can sample many of products before you buy. They range from chocolate, to nuts, to maple liqueur, to cheese, to dips and, of course, maple syrup. The food items not only make great gifts, you can treat yourself to them too!
The displays of artwork ranged from watercolor, to acrylic and oil. Several local photographers also displayed their various views from cows to barns and mountains.
While walking around enjoying all the crafts and food, you could hear music provided by Flutewalker Musical Arts and Peter Blanchette's archguitar. The Silver Leviathan Band could also be heard featuring the sounds of saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba and drums.
The Stowe Foliage Arts Festival is truly a treat to all ones senses. It's almost a sensory overload and I loved every moment of it!
As usual, I took lots of photos. Below is a slideshow showing more of the vendors and guests. If you missed it this year, plan to attend next year!
