Thirty-One Shop for the Cause – Relay for Life

Building Strong Nonprofits: An Effective Nonprofit Board
Monday, Oct 18; 3:30 pm – 5 pm
Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce, 350 S. White St.
The Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the INS Group, presents a workshop series open to members and non-members. This workshop will introduce nonprofit staff and board members to the principles of effective governance by defining the basic roles and responsibilities of the board. $20 per person/per session or 4 sessions for $70. Firing Range Training

Thursday, Oct 21; 3 pm – 9 pm
Police Department Firing Range, behind Flaherty Park Community Center
Residents in the area are advised that the Wake Forest Police Department will conduct firing range training at the police department firing range, located behind the Flaherty Park Community Center. The firing range is utilized by Wake Forest Police officers who require instruction and practice in order to obtain current certification in the use of firearms. Unified Development Ordinance Workshop
Thursday, Oct 21; 6 pm
Town Hall, 301 S. Brooks St.
Wake Forest residents are invited to offer their input concerning the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) process during a public workshop. The Lawrence Group, an award-winning town planning and design firm hired by the Town of Wake Forest, will present their recommendations and introduce the concept of integrating elements of a form-based code into the UDO. The Lawrence Group’s recommendations, known as the Diagnosis Report and Annotated Outline, are available for viewing on the Town’s website at www.wakeforestnc.gov/Residents/PlanningZoning.aspx. Open House Social

The Wake Forest Woman's Club along with the Wake Forest Juniors are hosting an informative open house social at the Wake Forest Historical Museum. The public is invited and encouraged to participate. Halloween Spooktacular
Thursday, Oct 21; 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Flaherty Park Community Center, 1226 N. White St.
The Halloween Spooktacular is a family-oriented event for children ages 12 and younger. This year’s festivities will include a costume contest, face painting, a haunted maze, and moon bounce, along with a variety of other ghostly games and activities, and free pumpkin giveaways - while supplies last. Wake Forest Block Party featuring the Steelwater Band

Wake Forest Rotary Club Comedy Night
Saturday, Oct 23; 6:30 pm – 10 pm
Crossroads Entertainment, 413 S. Brooks St.
John Betz Jr., named “Carolina’s Funniest Comic” in 2009, and “Big A,” also known as Andy Forrester, winner of the Ultimate Comedy Challenge in 2008, will perform at this community event designed to raise funds for a number of local non-profit organizations. Former WRAL-TV news reporter Mark Roberts will serve as emcee. Tickets are $15 each and can be made out directly to the non-profit organization of your choice: The Safe Space of Youngsville, Stop Hunger Now, The Children’s Miracle Network, The Boys and Girls Club of Wake Forest, or The Kerr YMCA Literacy Program.
