I'll Huff and Puff and Blow Your House Down!

Ok so I won't blow your house down but the howling winds that occurred in Pullman WA last night were absolutely scary!  And, it sounded like it was blowing my house down flat.  The wicked winds, crackling lightning and torrential rain woke me up last night.  My daughter was stuck to me like glue and our poor dog was whining next to the bed.  I couldn't believe the noise.  It was incredible.

At this point, my husband and I were both up and my daughter opened her eyes in fright.  We listended and watched the covered window as the lightning lit up the sky.  It felt like there was a fireworks show going on right outside our home.  I was hoping it would stop quickly.  We fell back asleep, although restlessly, and when we awoke, we looked like we could use a tad more sleep.

When I arrived at work, the talk of the morning was the storm that had passed through our town.  Everyone was talking about the storm, and the damage that this storm had caused.  I felt lucky that we had not experienced any damage, just some wind strewn pieces of lawn furniture on our deck.  I left the office and drove near the WSU campus. Oh my!

The damage I saw to many of the homes there was devastating.  I took some pictures and returned to the office.  One of my colleagues, Marian Hood, also took some pictures which I have attached below.  Incredible pictures!  I'm hoping we have a quiet night tonight....we all need the sleep.

Wow, Olga!  I'm always amazed at how weak we humans seem against the forces of nature!

Wow that is some powerful storms.  It's amazing the destruction they can do.

Olga - I understand how you feel about it. I had two trees into my home in Issaquah from a 1990 storm and then our neighborhood had trees down into almost every home from the 1993 Inauguration Day storm that took out power in all of the northwest. Hope the you sleep well.

Olga,

We also experienced some severe winds at the foothills of Colorado Springs.  I thought our large glass windows were going to break in half.

Hello Wende...it is amazing and sometimes, intimidating.  Incredible!

Hi Richard!  Thanks for your comment.  I drove by today and there is a huge hole in the roof of the house in the middle picture.  So damaged!

Hi Tony and Darcy!  It was an incredible storm and thank God no one was hurt.

Hi Mike!  Thanks for your comment.  I never realized the storms you can have here in the Northwest!  And, yes, thank you, I did sleep well :)

Hi Cherise.  I appreciate your comment! The sound of wind and the effect can be overpowering.  I tell you it felt like my bed was moving....
