A New Kitchen Gadget?

By
Home Inspector with JRV Home Inspection Services, LLC HOI 394

As a home inspector I definitely get to see the new cool gadgets for the home. You see all manner of kitchen gadgets advertised every where you look, on TV, at fairs and home shows to name a few. One thing I notice about gadgets, some appear to be quite practical and others seem kind of silly. Another thing that I often ponder about these kitchen creations, how did someone come up with that idea?

They say necessity is the mother invention which it no question would be, but sometimes inventions occur by accident. Not long ago I was in the kitchen of a home I was inspecting, when I happened upon what could be the next new kitchen craze. I believe every homeowner will line up to get this revolutionary kitchen contraption. What is this wondrous device?Cabinet opens by magic

The automatic kitchen cabinet door opener.

I know the names a bit of a mouthful, but I'll leave that up to the marketing people.

Check this out people, when activated the cabinet door you wish to open pushes outwards almost as if by magic. No more reaching, straining and pulling, the door is right at your finger tips.

What make this marvelous magic happen? The simplest device of all;

Air.

This will add aromas to your foods in here.The proto type here operates off the range vent. You see this mad genius intended to vent the fan to the exterior (another great idea), but ran into a road block or actually an outlet. So he left the duct to vent all those nasty cooking smells right into the cabinet. In the process this inventor had no idea he had just created a new wave in kitchen cabinet accessories.

While you're bustling about your kitchen this Thanksgiving Day think about how nice it would be to have an automatic kitchen cabinet door opener. Or perhaps you're happy with your cabinets just the way they are, I know I am.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Mr James,

You are small-minded about nature, animals with brains, and the ways of the real world, but I will wish you a good Thanksgiving anyway.

Larry, It will flavor the food in the cabinet, another "benefit".

Gloria, This is not a product for everyone :)

Umm... I think that's actually a smoker.  You just lay a slab of beef or whatever on top of the exhaust, burn some bacon on the stove top, then turn on the hood fan.  Presto.
