Ipad or Netbook: the best choice for realtors....

With the rapid advances in techonological development, it is impressive the lighting speed of which is taking place around us. Not keeping up can put us back in the Mesozoic Age faster than you can bat your eyelash. Darwinism theory come into place and yield substance to the adage of 'survival of the fitness'.

Recently, I have been contemplating about obtaining an IPAd vs. Netbook. Both have their pros and cons. With the Ipad, it is extremely portable in terms of quick access to the internet. It is like between a phone and a laptop. Additionally, this great gadget is taking over the archaic notepad which we once used regularly. All the media of entertainment can be just a push of a button away. Organization of database is just a click of an icon away. The size is phenominal with all the built in softwares. It is amazingly thin.

Likewise, the netbook comes in about the same size as the Ipad. The nice thing about the Netbook is that you can print documents and forms with access to a portable printer. Battery life on a Netbook is so much better than a regular laptop. The portability of the Netbook over the laptop is one of the main selling points. It becomes your little mobile mini office. The one great thing about the Netbook is multimedia which is unsurpassed compared to the Ipad. I am somewhat leaning towards this.

I have been doing some research into these two gadgets and will be making a decision shortly. If you are in the market for one, which would you select?

David, as a huge Apple fan I recently was forced to switch from an iPhone which I had been a fan of for years. Switch was because of AT&T service which went downhill on me and I went with the Droid X phone. I LOVE my Droid and would now never go back to the iPhone.

Didn't really know much about Netbook but I love the iPad thanks for the info! I'll have to look more into the Netbook to see which one works best.

I am watching all the posts and comments before deciding which to buy.  Now that Verizon has the Ipad I might go that route.

Tom, ditto. I was not happy with AT&T service either.

Jorge, Netbooks are extremely portable and highly functional.

Maureen, the beauty of the ipad is that no booting up of computer is required. That's one of the main selling point vs a Netbook.

Ipad - if you are considering handing it over to your clients to look at something every now and again.  The only setback with the ipad is its lack of flash capability.  So if you are showing something, make sure its not formated in flash....if so...all you will get is a still pic versus an active presentation.

Bought my daughter an ipad for her birthday about a month ago and I noticed yesterday that it doesn't have built in usb ports but you can buy an ipad connection kit with usb interface.

I have been trying to decide as well.  I do love apple products and am swaying more toward the ipad.

Netbooks are underperforming units with weak processing power.  Another alternative to an iPad is a notebook PC with a 12" or 13" screen.  Small size but fully functioning PC at a similar price to an iPad.  PC has flash capability plus a real keyboard.  The keyboard is key for me.  Full disclosure - I have a 17" laptop which goes everywhere with me.  Some prefer smaller units but I have found the bigger screen very useful in presentations.

I took the plunge and bought a netbook and so far, I am very pleased.  I know many agents abhor windows but that's what my main computer is.  There is a great feature called "cloud" that you download from ZumoDrive, which is free and you can link the folder on your desktop to a cloud folder on your netbook without a USB cable.  Very cool.  So anything I update on my desktop will update on my netbook through cloud.  I like that I can print with the netbook, too.  Ipad looks cool, but it wasn't practical for the way I do business, at this time anyway.

Thank you for the blog and all the comments! I'm considering the netbook, but I'm wondering which laptop has the "docusign" screen that you can write directly on it. Does anyone have that answer please?
