Enough about Obama care, how about "a habitat" for a needy family?

Enough about Obama care, how about "a habitat" for a needy family?

There is so much concern about health care, however, after 25 years working in the medical field and 10 years being able to control the codes and prices in a Radiology arena, Obama care has to be the worst program ever. Fining people for not having insurances is rediculous - @ $750.00/ year?  Geeze, this might feed a family for a few months.

Note to all:  Hospitals are required to provide 10% of their services to indigent care per year...that is probably not enough.

Example, I had to go to the ER for what I thought was an allergic reaction a few weeks ago.  I never saw a doctor while I was there. I was given a shot of benadryl (already had some on board), and Pepcid - which was supposed to help the benadryl work better.  WHO DID I SEE?  A nurse practitioner.  Guess what?  I got a bill for $425.00 for the MD, who I never saw...I'm fighting the payment.

NOW...Obama should worry more about people having a home or habitat to live in before he tries to conquer health care.  He has no clue, nor do most of the people in Washington how to resolve the health care issue.  If he would consult those of us who actually were responsible at one time to define CPT codes and the ICD9 codes (reason for the test), then maybe he could come up with a realistic plan for US citizens.  DOCTORS DO NOT DO THESE THINGS, ADMINISTRATORS, DIRECTORS, and Billing Directors do this type of work.

First and foremost, the individuals who belong in the United States should be able to have homes to live in.  They should not have to live with their parents, and parents shouldn't have to live with their children.

Home ownership should be affordable.  We should take care of American born legal residents.

IMHO, Americans who have a family of 4 an have incomes of less than $25,000.00  a year should be able to get health care at a Federally run clinic for free. After all, senators are worried about getting funding for their states for things that do not help PEOPLE!

The health care of Americans, and their ability to live in a habitat is WAY MORE IMPORTANT, in MY opinion, than giving money to investigate [for example] why earthworms are dying in Alaska (not a real cause, but a silly example).

WHAT SAY YOU?

I think it isn't a simple problem nor is there a simple solution. Somebody had to do something about healthcare and then we need to fine tune it,

Sandy,

I worked in the health care industry for 25 years, 10 in administration and 5 in a Management/Director roll.  We can "tweek" the codes.  We used to make great deals with the people w/o insurance that had cash.  The prices associated with the studies were elevated on the most part because most of the time, we would only receive 20 - 30% back from the insurance companies.  People like myself and a few other's I could recommend would be great advisors and people who could RE-HAB insurance for Americans, and who could come up with fair payments for physicians.  The problem is, those that are approving Obama care have no idea how prices are associated with the studies physicians order...We, on the most part, have to explain it to the physicians.

What I think needs to be address first is the amount of people that have no where to live, and who are living with parents or relatives and they are sleeping on the floor or a family is in one bedroom with 2 -4 kids...that is sad.

Thank you for your opinion tho, I appreciate your opinion.

Larry,

He's so far out there, he should be gone...has no clue and I don't think he wants one.  I think in his heart, he know's he is in way over his head...I mean...to leave Bill Clinton at the podium? What man (running the USA), would leave the podium to a past President...only someone who didn't know any better.

The health issues in our country go sooo way beyond just insurance. We keep looking for band aid solutions instead of attacking the causes of our diseases. I would much rather see the money spent for free or low cost screenings for cancer and heart disease, well baby checkups etc.

Maureen,

You are so right on about your comment.  The USA could do this, if they hired someone like me who know's the system.  I'm going to be blunt here. Doctors rely on Administrators like I used to be...and they know very little...not saying they don't have a clue, just saying...they respect those of us who do know how.  Whether it's fair...in my last job before I went into RE, they totally relied on me.

More opinions than you want to hear about.

Before there were levels of bureaucracy between doctors and patients, there was affordable health care.  The advent of "managed" health care delivery, coupled with the widespread availability of major medical coverage, has put prices into the stratosphere.

Before all the "improvements" to the system, health care providers charged what the average patient could afford to pay.  There was little need for short sale negotiations with the doctor or the hospital.  In 1969, I was an entry level employee with no insurance.  When my daughter was born, the cost of hospital care for four days and all doctor fees, including pre and post natal care and delivery were about two weeks pay for me.

Today, the same services would cost an evil bank president more than two weeks pay.  Why?  Because providers know that the sky is the limit if you have insurance.  There is no longer a need to consider consumer resistance when setting prices.

What did the Obama plan do?  It gave the insurance companies forty million new customers under threats to consumers of fines for non-compliance.

Mike,

Exactly.  I remember when I lived in Gettysburg, PA.  There were a hand full of MD's and 2-3 surgeons.  Many of the doctors made HOUSE CALLS, some would take a few dozen eggs, or a chicken, or even an exchange of house cleaning.  AND, that system worked!

I hope they repeal Obama care b/c if they don't, we are headed into another debacle.
