Well the New Year is here, and thus begins my terms as the 2011 President of the Battle Creek Area Association of REALTORS®.
I have searched the Association of Realtors as a volunteer since 2006, working the time in around my business as a full time Realtor in Battle Creek. I have been the chairman of the Professional Development Committee for the past four years, which directs the education programs offered by the board for the membership.
In this role, I was able to expand the continuing education benefits for our membership, and encourage members to further their education as professionals. I have included a photo here of one of the continuing education classes my committee arranged in 2010 with the Michigan Association of REALTORS® Attorney.
I have also served as a member of the Government Affair Committee, Multiple Listing Service & Technology Committee and the Professional Standards Committee for the past four years as well. I also served on the Public Relations Committee for two years, and most recently have served on the Budget Committee for the past two years.
The photo to the right here shows me receiving the 2010 Participation Award for the Board along with four other members.
In 2008 I was elected to the Board of Directors and served as a Director in 2009, and became the President-Elect in 2010. Now as 2011 is here, I will serve as the President for the Board of Directors. It is a great opportunity to be able to learn from prior Presidents from my involvement with the Board over the past few years to prepare myself for this undertaking.
I am honored to serve in this capacity, and hope to accomplish many things for my association. One of the main objectives I have is to bring our Board into the realm of social media with a Facebook presence and or online ways to connect with our membership.
I hope that my term as the 2011 President of the Battle Creek Area Association of REALTORS® will be one remembered favorably when members in the future look back on it. In the mean time, I am looking ahead to all the fun in store for the coming year. I am treating it like an adventure!
