Motivational Power Quote

The Power of Simple Courtesy

"Never underestimate the power of simple courtesy.

Your courtesy may not be returned or remembered,

but discourtesy will."

Princess Jackson-Smith, writer

As I see it. . . . . . . .

The power of simple courtesy

The simple act of courtesy is in having good manners and treating people with courteousness.

Courtesy is act of doing for others without seeking a reward or recognition. Being courteous can be one of the most fulfilling moments in a person's life for both the giver and receiver.

The power of the act of simple courtesy can brighten a person's day, make a person smile, and form a lasting relationship. The cost of being courteous is being polite and the rewards are endless. Being courteous is a personal choice of being a good person and making the people you meet feel good about meeting you.

Hi Lou, it is so true that people are more likely to remember when someone is rude.  It would make me feel really bad to be rude and hurtful to others.  Add some sunshine to another's life.  That makes me feel good.  Thank you!

Gosh Lou, it's like so many other things ... people may not remember the "expected and polite" thing to do ... but will always remember (and talk about) the other ..

Lou,

In today's fast-paced lifestyle, courtesy seems often to get lost or forgotten. Great post. :)

Great quote Lou!  I think many times we do something nice and expect some great reward for it...we need to simply just do the kind acts and be done....feel good about it either way!

I get compliments all the time from people about the manners of my five year old.  I think that's sad.  Since when are things like "please", "thank you" and "excuse me", optional?  My 16 month old son already knows how to say thank you.  I hope if my children learn anything from me, it's respect for others and being courteous counts!  Great reminders of how simple a smile or hello can be.

One thing I have noticed and actually can't believe how prevalent it is in our society is the term "no problem".  I will say thank you and I hear from people in the service industry, friends, co-workers and other agents say "no problem". Was it a problem to begin with?!  Starting to be a pet peeve :)

It is sad to realize that we are becoming a society of people that are so self centered that we no longer know how to say, please, thank you, or even open and hold a door for the person walking in behind us

It never hurts to be courteous...your act of kindness/kind words may just be that one thing that they really needed to hear that day.
