The three-month moving average of annualized retail growth rate suggests a annual rate of 14%. This proposed a consumer spending rate of nearly 4% in the fourth quarter and couple with an increase in manufacturing rates, if sustained could ignite another tranche of business spending and hiring, especially with smaller business. Overall growth is expected to remain slow and steady over the first several quarters according to the Wells Fargo Weekly Economic and Financial Commentary.
