The Polustris Festival began Thursday March 24 and will continue through Sunday March 27th.
Today, March 26 hosts a variety of events including a wildlife photo exhibit at the Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve from 8AM to 5 PM. Admission is free and the Nature Preserve is located at 1024 Fort Bragg Rd. in Southern Pines and the phone number for any questions is 910-692-2167.
Another event which is held every day during the Festival is a Pottery Experience at Linda Dalton Pottery from 10AM to 5Pm. Tours of the pottery as well as demonstrations and question and answer sessions on how pottery is made along with pottery available for viewing and purchase is part of this 4 day event. The pottery is located at 250 Oakhurst Vista in West End. The phone number there is 910-947-5325. No charge for admission.
In addition to visual arts there is also a collection of musical celebrations and concerts throughout the weekend including a performance for the Opera Lover. From 3-5 today there will be a performance led by David Michael Wolff at the Sandhills Community College in the Owen's Auditorium. General admission will be $23 at the door and the college is located at 3395 Airport Rd and the phone number is 910-692-6185.
And if it is live theater and dance you like there is something for everyone including Moore On Stage's performance of "Over the River and Through the Woods". Held daily throughout the Palustris Festival at the Sunrise Theater in Southern Pines. Tonights performance is from 7:30 PM to 10Pm and the costs is $22 for adults. The theater is located at 250NW Broad St. in Southern Pines.
And there much for the entire family including "Arts in the Arboretum" in Pinehurst today with a bring your own picnic lunch and blanket and drinks will be provided. Starting at 11:00AM there will be Pine Cone art sculpture for all ages. Materials will be provided. After the picnic lunch there will be music from the kids of West Pine Middle School - a garden args trail hunt - kite designing - and more youth musical and drama performances starting at 3:00. The Village Arboretum is located at 395 Magnolia Rd. in Pinehurst. 910-695-1900. Admission is free.
