"E" Stands For Enough...
Invariably, as life would have it, I drag sorry butt outta bed late, the coffee pot fails to have my elixir of life on the ready and I have an appointment across town in less than an hour. That sux. Oh well, I flip the switch on the pot as I rush to shower, grab a mug on the way out the door, jump in the car just to find the tank resting on "E". That sux.
Okay, I drive a car that is supposed to get 47mpg if I go easy, but then I'm running late. I cross my fingers hoping that "E" will stand for enough. Onward I push. Mile after mile clicks away on the odometer. Lower and lower, the gauge goes. Drats! Now the light is blinking. Critical now. 10 more miles to go. Damn, I hope that "E" stands for enough.
Whew! Made it across town with 10 minutes to spare. While my Prius is definitely is great on gas, it is past the point that it definitely needs some. I coast into a station as the engine begins to sputter. I reckon I was lucky. "E" did stand for enough...
E stands for Enough when it comes to gas prices - Drill Baby Drill. I dream about getting a small KIA someday.
I had a ford econoline that would run out of gas with no warning. I ran out of gas with it twice in one day. I've coasted into a gas station before. Glad "E" was "E"nough for you today.
Michael ~ Whee, you made it and didn't run out of gas ~ Enough, was enough and no speeding tickets!!
Michael...
Won't that thing run if it runs out of gas? That is, until the batteries go dead.
Gas in town today is 4.35 a gallon. One week ago it was 3.99. Enough is an E word.
Michael, It sounds like you had a fantastic day. You got your "elixir of life" and you didn't have to walk. What more could you ask for? Have a great weekend.
Hi Michael - Why didn't you drive at a speed where it was your battery powering the car?
Michael, with that mileage you are not feeling the pain at the pump nearly as much as some of your brothers
Lucky you! I have run out of gas! Once on a way to a listing appointment. It was a "new" car to me and the dial and indicator were not working but I didn't know that. oops Thank goodness for cell phones and the nice man that stops and gave me enough gas to get to the station
Well, good that the E stood for Excellent! I once ran out of gas as I pulled up to a pump!
I am glad to hear that there were enough fumes in the tank to get you where you needed to go. I hate it when that happens to me, I get a bad case of the nerves.
Hi Miachel, These are the kind of days that we all dread. We have all been there a time or two and feel your pain. :-)
Dear Michael,
Echoing Gary Coles (#14) -----
The only ther thing you could ask for is a gas station with $1.75 gas in the pump!
Have a happy day -
Lynn
Great post Michael. M. and I have decided to buy a Pruius. I'll take this post as a confirmation.
I have considered a smaller vehicle, but until the child and friends are no longer a consideration for my vehicle, I guess I'll be spending that $60.00 every fill up.
You would have been really upset if you had RUN out completely....which means EMPTY! A brisk walk would have gotten you to your final destination.
