Today was the groundbreaking at MG on the Halifax, better known as Marina Grande on the Halifax, a 972-unit planned condominium development on Halifax River in Holly Hill, Fl. Brett Dill at goundbreaking at MG on the Halifax

The front man (and the man for beating if the venture fails – LOL) is Brett Dill, President of Swerdlow Group, which was involved in the initial stage of this development before partying ways with Boca Developers. He is also a managing partner of the new joint Venture.

In the economy which is largely scaled back, Brett's instincts tell him that this is the time for bold moves. And bold he moves.

Look at his face. This is the face of chutzpah.

Chutzpah is what we were missing. In Holly Hill, in Daytona Beach, in Florida, in the nation...

Jon - it is private money. We can call it "developer's" money. Until now I thought that this is how everything, or pretty much everything, was built in the nation.

And, I won't agree about being smart. Smart people and successful people are not always the same thing.

I think best things were created by people with vision, and that's why I have very high hopes for this place.

Jon: I hope his boldness is contagious. We need people to step up and get some construction projects going....put people back to work...so they can buy homes! I suppose it's all a matter of timing for this project and Mr. Dill seems to think the time is NOW. I wish him every success!

Jack - in my wishful thhinking I am with you. Will the market fill the sails that developer has readied? Nobody knows.

But if you do not have the sails ready, how can you catch the wind when it suddenly blows?

Jon, I have often thought that we are led around by the nose with the economy. What causes it to just collapse, in one fell swoop? That is why I think this Mr. Dill is very smart to make it happen rather than to wait for it to happen. He will create a mini bubble of recovery. There will be those that have a job again that are building, money flows back in, he will entice people who have money (and there are those around for sure) to buy. He will create what he chooses to create while others have it happen to them.

Keep us posted on the project, as I am sure you will.

I do understand that there are other factors with the economy. I knew the housing market couldn't last forever the way it was, that there were issues. But when you hear, over and over again that something is going to go wrong, you believe it, you wake up one day and guess what, it happened. It can also happen in reverse. The laws of physics tell me so. So best of luck to Mr. Dill and his project!

Andrea - of course. Economy manifests itself through that actions of people and companies. These guys have mney, and have vision. And their guts tell them that at this price not only it makes financial sense for them, it makes financial sense for the Buyers. So, exactly, maybe it willbe a mini economy, and many mini economies like this will start growing into a bigger one
