Importance of Realtors

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with BeatYouThere.com
I would like to get your opinion on how important realtors are to the future of real estate.  I believe that they do have their place and that they will in no way become extinct like travel agents have become regarding online travel.  Our site, www.BeatYouThere.com is in no way intended to replace real estate agents, rather empower them to embrace the WORLDwide web and get their listings in front of as many users as possible.

Many new sites are trying their hardest at replacing the realtor in the transaction and I believe that those sites will be successful, but in no way eliminate realtors.  Many people do choose to list their property themselves but the majority of people have a broker they can trust and rely on.

I would like the opinions from my readers to give me their feedback on the future of realtors and also their opinions on the future of real estate on the internet.

www.BeatYouThere.com will be soft launching on October 15, 2007.  We encourage your feedback and we will make adjustments accordingly.  We want to be the number one search engine for "Everything Real Estate".  We already have agreements from hundreds of real estate brokerages and listing sites to provide their information in one easy to search site.  Our site is 100% organic which means that users may not pay to have their listings come up first.  The listings are all based on relevancy.  We are not brokering deals, but merely taking the hassle our of the search process.

If real estate agents werent around....attorneys would write the real estate contracts, right?  As we all know, if attorneys did not have competition from real estate agents, they would charge a whole lot more to write a purchase agreement.  Then they would have competition from......real estate agents.

As long as real estate is a big investment, and it always will be, people will want/need help with their transaction.  Will we always get 6%?  Maybe not, but pretty close to it.

Brian, right on.  I have sold many properties myself and never used a broker to sell any of them.  I think there are good brokers out there but the many that I have encountered across the country have let me down.

From your picture you look kind of young.  I think in the last 10 years, it has been OVERWHELMINGLY easy to sell property.  Put a sign on it, wait for the calls.  Now there are at least 7 houses for every buyer that is "kinda looking" or "just started looking for a house".  What do you do now???  Call a real estate agent.  I am not saying a real estate agent will sell everything, but the agent has a better shot than a For Sale By Owner.....many, many more resources and chances for a sale.

I am also not unilaterally saying that all real estate agents are good.  But even a bad agent at least has the chance of a good agent seeing the listing on the MLS and selling it for them.
