Water Company Urges Water Conservation Measures

The Aquarion Water Company has urged Westporters to voluntarily decrease outdoor water usage until reservoir water levels rise to normal.

A statement from the Bridgeport-based company which serves customers throughout the region follows a similar water conservation call Friday by Gov. M. Jodi Rell.

Aquarion said while reservoir levels may rise with this week's predicted rains, customers in the meantime can help avoid the need for more critical conservation measures by minimizing lawn and garden watering and eliminating all nonessential outdoor water use.

"Our request for voluntary conservation began a week ago in the Greenwich system where water levels are at 35 percent of capacity," said Howard J. Dunn, Aquarion vice president of operations and technology
