Weekly Activity in the Intermountain West.

For a hobby I look regularly at the seismic activity  of the Intermountain West, with the area chosen having me in the center.

We can expect about 650 plus occurrences per year, roughly two per day in the Region. At the moment the daily average for the week performs at about twice that,  although the number of incidents per week is way down compared to, say, a month ago when 65 events for the week were registered.

The seismic events are small, but constant, very normal for the area. Being vertical in nature only about two percent of the events are felt by the region's inhabitants
.
As usual, where I might have an unusual hobby, my intent in reporting local seismic activity is to inform, never alarm.

Hi Larry~

I decided to be brave and comment on your Seismic activity post!

Since I live on the twentieth floor at the waters edge, I fear seismic activity in my area would not be a fun hobby! I did read in you posts on Seismic activity is common and expected and normal for your area, which is good to know!

If I feel the Earth move under my feet, i fear I'll also see the sky crumbling down as well!

Judi - Thanks for your brave and feeling comment. You live in a wonderful place. Wherever I choose to live, I call home and enjoy it, warts and all, to the full. I totally enjoy Sandy UT, and often promore it as a great place to visit, or to choose to reside permanently.
