Weekly Activity in the Intermountain West.
For a hobby I look regularly at the seismic activity of the Intermountain West, with the area chosen having me in the center.
We can expect about 650 plus occurrences per year, roughly two per day in the Region. At the moment the daily average for the week performs at about twice that, although the number of incidents per week is way down compared to, say, a month ago when 65 events for the week were registered.
The seismic events are small, but constant, very normal for the area. Being vertical in nature only about two percent of the events are felt by the region's inhabitants
.
As usual, where I might have an unusual hobby, my intent in reporting local seismic activity is to inform, never alarm.
