Do you ever get a house crush?

House crush Recently I was taking some clients out to see property in one of my favorite neighborhoods.  Before taking them out I previewed several homes and then took them to see homes that met their criteria.  They really liked the homes they saw but they wanted to know if there were any other houses that I thought they should see.

I said there is another house in the area but because of a couple of features that were not on their list I did not add it to the list of houses to show them.  I shared with them that this other house was my current “house crush.” They thought the idea of a real estate agent having a "house crush" was funny so they said: “ Well we have to see what that house looks like that you have a crush on.”

My clients immediately saw why I had a "house crush" on this property.  The current owners built the house with so much love and craftsmanship. It really was a very unique house.

I know that as agents we want to be as neutral as possible and not let our views on a home color what our clients see.  I have sold many houses that I personally would never want to live in but that is OK I am not buying the house.  My clients are buying the house and it needs to meet their needs not mine.

I do not know if my clients will buy this home but it was such a wonderful experience to share a property with them that I loved so much and to see their reaction to the home.  Sometimes it is OK to share your house crush with your clients.

As  a builder I can read the mood before pulling up to the house, the neighborhood the smells, etc. My customers appreciate my input, and I will tell then if it will be a good fit or not.

I love your term "house crush"! And yes - I can think of houses I liked so much that I was madly trying to think of WHO I could show it to....
