Elusive Mountian Jay

By
Real Estate Agent with Albuquerque Homes Realty 16572

I finally caught a decent shot of this beautiful elusive Mountain Jay.  While spending a few down days at the Toas NM cabin he and his Jay pals always eluded the snap of my camera. The last morning my wife and I had just about given up on getting a good photo of the brilliant colored birds. Out of the blue Mr.Jay hops up to feed on the deck railing even calling his feathered friends to come join in the alluring feast.  Needless to say we delayed our cabin departure till they had finished feeding and disappeared into the Carson National Forest

John, great shot of the elsive Mountain Jay. We have Stellar Jays on this side of the Rocky Mountains and Blue Jays on the eastern side--all vibrant blue in colour.

Hi John, That is a wonderful photo and you even caught him with seed in his mouth. Great job!

Hi John,  A great photo!  Here in Alabama the Jays don't have the white on their heads and don't seem to be as large as the one you posted.  They are however quiet mean and will peck the top of your head if you get too close to their babies.  Glad I ran across your post I enjoyed it.

Now that is a great shot, your patience paid off.  He seems to be annoyed with you for interrupting his lunch!

Good shot.  You should post it in the Birds Group on ActiveRain.  Be sure to keep your camera in hand to capture those special moments.

 Life is good!

Ted, Thanks for coming by. I suppose all Jays are elusive and certainly beautiful. I remember as a kid in a camp once where they didn't care at all they would try to take the food out of our hands.  I think it was Jays.

Bill, I suppose they little guy was a bit hungry and felt it worth the hassle of being snapping of shots.  Always bring bird seed, and hummer juice. See future blog.

Hi Rayford,  That's what I recall from being a kid as I responded to Ted. They can be mean little devils.  Have a good day!

Janna,  I figure he thought the free lunch I provided was worth the hassles of humans.  Thanks for coming by.

Hey Chris, They can pretty noisy especially if agitated. You can hear them in the forest for a long ways.

Hi Roy,  I will check in on the Bird group for sure.  I have many to share and that seems a likely audience.  Thanks as always Roy!

Good morning Ron -

This one was so long ago I had forgotten about it.  We do enjoy the colorful birds each time we head to the mountains for some rest and relaxation with Mother Nature.  Hope you and yours have a great Sunday my friend.
